Jawahar Knowledge Centre (JKC)

The Jawahar Knowledge Centre (JKC) is an initiative of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, established in 2005 with the objective of enhancing employability among students pursuing non-professional degree programmes. The centre addresses the growing mismatch between academic learning and industry requirements by equipping students with essential technical, communication, and employability skills demanded in the global job market.

JKC places special emphasis on students from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds, particularly those from rural areas, who often lack access to quality skill-development opportunities. By providing structured training, exposure to modern technologies, and a competitive learning environment, the centre empowers students to improve their career prospects and socio-economic status.

Functioning within degree colleges, JKC is supported by well-equipped infrastructure and trained faculty. The centre conducts systematic training programmes focusing on computer proficiency, communication skills, soft skills, leadership qualities, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and entrepreneurial skills. These programmes are designed to complement the academic curriculum and enhance students’ overall personality and professional readiness.

JKC also plays a proactive role in placement support by organizing campus recruitment drives, job fairs, and career guidance programmes. Students receive assistance in résumé preparation, interview skills, and career counseling, which significantly improves their employability. The centre further encourages entrepreneurship by offering guidance on business planning and self-employment opportunities.

Through continuous mentoring and skill enhancement, JKC instills confidence, self-reliance, and a goal-oriented outlook among students. The initiative has been instrumental in bridging the gap between education and employment, enabling students to become competent professionals and responsible citizens who contribute to the economic and intellectual development of the nation.
